Mr Dunfee getting pretty cool and dropping science on how to be yourself. Check the full story here.
div>Words to live by Mr. Dunfee!
Somebody got a nice new [blue] SK SUP!!!! This lucky man is Piggly Wiggly Diggly doo Joe C. AKA Joe Shaper…Teacher at La Jolla High, and Lifeguard at ”Great White Beach.”
On one hand I don’t like NOT knowing where a beach in my town is…on the other, I might not want to know where this one is. The answer might be “everywhere…”

Check out SK Bass Boat Team Shredder, Mark Bingham with a big one! To be fair, fish have poor vision and Mark’s cammo shirt must have made him really hard to see from down below…So that’s how they do it…?
IB shooter/ripper/SK Amigo Jeff Wallis is about to get a sweet new stick. Check out his blog at http://jeffwallisphotography.blogspot.com/ and tell him how much you love his shots!

Now just because I have been duped by this before, this board is NOT glassed or finished so if anyone plans to go in there and steal this (or if you, Mr. Wallis plan to go pick it up now…) it’s just been painted so hold your breath it’s still getting ready to pop in the oven!
Dug up a few ‘kine pics of SK rippa Masaru getting experimental in some thickies…Gambatte!

Check out SK team rider Sean Fowler ripping on a thruster in Mex.
A few weeks ago we posted a ‘Check In’ with Kyle Foyle. Kyle is a North Shore lifeguard, SK team rider and as it turns out, total badass. In addition to saving lives and charging pits on the Miracle Mile, Kyle likes to knock out dudes Muay Thai stlyle.
So basically, if you’ve ever had a whistle blown on you in Hawaii, chances are this is what you will see just before the light turn off and you wake up wondering how big the train was that ran you over. Mr. California managed 2 rounds before Kyle ran him down and knocked him out. This is why its really smart to be really nice on the North Shore…
No need to my lame sarcasm here…this is the shit.
Hayden Lane just took home this 9’6” burnt carmel orange tint modern classic California pintail. Slightly pulled in nose, long blended concave slightly with a rolled bottom into a blended vee off the tail. Hard tucked edge in the tail for release and speed. Bad-Ass, hand shaped goodness. 1000 grit wet sand finish.

Check SK team rider Joel Peek ripping at Rocky Point on a 4’11 SK Thruster…my board is bigger than that after I break it in half pearling in head high Beach Park…
Jeff Wallis caught [Pleasure] Pig Hunter, Pat Mac Poaching a few squealers in an undisclosed, trunkable location – I’m jealous.

Well shaped and even better ridden. Funny how those two seem to go hand in hand.

That’s what my grandma, my band teacher and then later on my court appointed counselor (another story entirely…) told me ever since I was a wee lad – and I never believed them! It’s always easier to show whats on the outside…but is that really what matters?
Dan Mann of Incide Blanks Technology has challenged this notion with some impressive results. Here’s what SK says about Incide and what exactly is going on in there:
“New blank technology, Incide blanks, Produced by Dan Mann. Dan has developed a breakthrough blank. Without giving up too much info, it is an EPS foam blank, featuring an internal engineered core. I have had the opportunity to test these blanks with my boards and the difference is Very noticeable. Faster , snappier turns, very crisp and lively under foot. Just getting some more boards produced at the moment, with more info to come. I will tell you this, if performance is important to you , you will need to check this out. It’s that big a difference!”
…here’s a sneak peek to whet yer palette, Buon Apetito!

While we primarily build custom order boards, we occasionally we build some stock or experimental boards just ’cause…First come first serve on these pups. Gettem while they last. Available for pickup or ship to…Hit us up through the Contact page.

5′ 10″ QUAD FISH POLY GLOSS POLISH yellow airspray bottom $695.00

5’10″ RTT airspray $650.00

6’0″ BORRACHO quad $625.00 EPS/Epoxy

6’10″ QUAD FISH POLY blue airspray rails black pins $695.00
So as mentioned, I went down to steal “my next board”, the 5’10 Pleasure Pig with the fruit loop stripes that Stu made the mistake of emailing me a pic of! Crafty fox, Mr Kenson had actually sent me a pic of a freshly painted, UNGLASSED shape that would do me absolutely no good to pilfer at this stage of its life! I had such plans for this board too…
So I poked around a bit more (and got a little dusty too but thats nice actually) and found my new “Next Board!” Im calling it the blue bullet and it was a ‘beaut. This lil rocket has 5′ South Peak lefts written all over it. Normally I would straight up walk out, board in hand and not show my face for another 2 months while I break in a freshly stolen SK…Unfortunately, this bullet had someone elses name on it. That person was Chris Russell, chief proprietor at aps3000sd.com, the place where Stu shaping bay resides…It does make me feel better knowing he’ll put it go good use, but man, 2 broken hearts in about 1 week…my self esteem is at an all time low. Here’s the bullet that narrowly missed my heart:

I want this! Straight up, I’m coming down to grab this….Stu, you better lock this up and hide it cause I’m gonna steal this board and ride it in 1′ Cardiff Reef like there’s no tomorrow…Proof to follow!

Mr Dunfee’s big bang for Best Wipeout at the Surfer Poll Awards last year sent a wave of fallout in all directions. Most recently affected was Surfin Life Japan. Mr Dunfee, big getting bigger in Japan…
…Day in the life of a playa, handlin biz with his merry band of pirates…Get work done, son!

Here’s the fish on the wall’s view of Mr Warren in that sick Frenchie sand bar from the video clip…Viva la Tube!

Big in France is not quite as cool as big in Japan…but A for effort goes to team rider and Brand Manager at Analog, Adam Warren getting some tube time on the beach in France last year. Check it out!
Adam gets extra points for surfing & drinking beer but only cause he packed em out when he left the beach! Formidable!
North Shore Lifeguard Kyle Foyle with a fresh new 7’4″ SK Gun. Made for gettin into scary places…

Advice to any rookie visiting surfers who get the whistle blown on ‘em? If we are whistle at you, that means your seconds away from having a bad day. listen to us and do what we say fast. just say thanks and dont try and say you were fine.. we’ve heard it all.
We all know Stu listens to Country Music…What’s the crappiest band you’d admit to listening to? i bet it was some kelly clarkson.. I think
…Thanks Kyle!

Check this article about big wave surfing, breathing underwater and the pros and cons of safe surfing. Mr. Dunfee and the author of the article also drop a little coin about about the best gun ever ridden (which happens to be an SK). Nice how we made this article all about us even though its not really…? We’re good like that.
Word up to Mike Trotta and the LSA Carlsbad crew! Keeping our natural beauty in check and shredding on SK’s when nature call!

Surfing this well helps Mr. Parra stay in shape for his day job…

We’ve all seen Dave ripping on boards like this any day, any size…We call them “Mutants” and you should get one…

Check out Team Silver Spoon rider Corey Coolman showing us his style on the North Shore. Surf more, work less…Corey has been ripping on SK’s for years now…

For those of you who dont know, SK’s been making things happen in Japan for the last decade or so…Heres a few choice pics from Sk’s travel to Japan in 2010…

Enjoy this! More madness from Mr. Dunfee’s film about growing up, going down and getting back up to the plate…
1. Cold Water? Check.
2. Scarcity of Surf? Check.
3. SK Team Rider ANPO ripping in Akita, Sea of Japan? Check.

Check out Sean Fowler & Crew turning and slashing in some baja gems.

SK SUP Racer Mark “Kiwi“ Fields looking buff and ready for a cameo on Bondi Rescue! Check out the custom color work by Seth Bishop. Made (and painted) to go fast!

I find there’s not much point in writing copy when posting images of Mr. Dunfee. They kind of speak for themselves. All I can say is that when I ride a 9’4″ its cause the waves are piddly and I just wanna get wet. Derek Dunfee redefines the 9’4″ experience at Puerto…Bullshit wave!
This is more than an award folks. Most people would pack it in a start bass fishing (hehehee) after a wipeout like that. Props!
I dunno if Paul Hogan surfs, well he’s aussie, so maybe he can claim it, but anyway…Remember that line from Crocodile Dundee goes to America? [Yes I know that's not the real title] “That’s not a knife, ha ha, there’s a knife.”
Have a look at a few of Mr. Dunfee’s 9’6 Guns…Are you still sure you’re packing heat? Dare to compare…

We all claim it, but Stu really is famous in Japan! Covered in Surf Trip Journal…all photos © Surf Trip Journal 2010.
